Risk Assessment with Nomographs
Instead of using tables, a quick and practical approach to risk assessment, especially for field staff, is to use a nomograph. This is developed for:
- The likely scenarios of an event happening
- The impact on the consequences or risk scores.
A graph gives a person with minimal training a clearer picture of the possible consequences from different scenarios.
The method can be understood by operating and management personnel and provide objective assessments which would be acceptable to both.
Additionally, nomographs can be developed based on the degree of risk exposure for the justification of any risk reduction measures in an objective manner.

Work is needed to rearrange the elements to suit different situations and asset types.
