Program Priorities

Once the decision has been made to proceed with the asset management program, it is important to understand that each individual asset group or asset type has an individual priority program that may come from the needs analysis study.

We can prioritize the data collection on a broad spectrum related to those asset groups or types.

However, it is important to realize that each of those asset groups may have a secondary priority program that can be developed before the data is collected.

Typical Asset Group Priority Program from Needs Analysis Study

This assessment can take into account issues such as:

  • The population affected
  • Any ageing problems or effective life of the assets involved
  • The need for information on the assets that is not available at present
  • The ability to analyze or model capacity problems
  • Maintenance problems
  • Replacement programs
  • True costs or depreciation levels.

By putting a rated score on each of these activities, we are able to look at the rating score for each of the service districts, and in this way we can develop a logical priority for completing the data collection for all of the facilities/assets.
