Supply Stream
Questions to be asked about current asset utilization include:
- How accurately can the organization assess the current capacity of their assets?
- Do they have all the physical details necessary to calculate the current capacity?
- Is this readily available on the asset database?
- Is it capable of being downloaded to modelling systems or can it calculate capacity internally?
- Does the organization have a system or method that allows them to determine the capacity of networked or aggregated assets? for example:
- Single asset
- Facility or group of assets
- Region or supply district
- System as a whole.
- How accurately can the organization assess the current utilization or demand for these assets?
- To what hierarchical level (asset categories) can the organization monitor the current use of the system?
- Asset level

- Regional level
- System level.
- Is the monitoring real time (continuous)?
- Peak only
- Peak, minimum and average
- Annual usage.
- How good are the historical utilization records for these assets?
- 2 years
- 5 years
- 10 years
- 15 years and over.
- Are the key drivers (causes) of these demands known for this historical period?
- How does this level of utilization compare with other assets of similar categories in similar organizations using benchmarking?
