Project Management Systems

A number of standard industry packages are available to assist asset managers in managing projects, whether they are major asset creations or minor refurbishments.

These systems are usually stand-alone.

The package will schedule, monitor and control:

• Human resources
• Costs
• Milestones.

Keeping project schedules current is a time-consuming task, but it is imperative that the plan accurately reflects reality, to ensure that the goals are achieved.

The outputs of the system, which are critical to the on-time completion of the projects, include:

• Critical path analysis
• Cash flow predictions
• Resource utilisation reporting.

Some examples of project management software packages include Microsoft Project and Primavera SureTrak.
